WHO WE ARE!
Acts 2:38-42 THE MODEL CHURCH...
38 Peter said to them, ”Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness
of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall
call to Himself.”
40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them saying “be saved from this
perverse generation!”
41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and were added that day about three thousand
souls.
42 And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking
of bread and to prayer.
Comments on Acts 2:42 :
There are all sorts of churches. Some meet in ornate buildings with stained glass windows; others gather in
more modest buildings, huts and even outdoors. Some Christians meet together in secret, after dark,
because Christianity is against the law in their country.
Churches can have very different personalities, and therefore express worship in a variety of ways. But it
makes no difference what the building looks like or whether the pastor wears robes or blue jeans. The
important thing is that the church is biblical. Churches based on the Bible have at least four things in
common. ( Go Back To See Acts 2:42 – the very first Christian church ):
Learning - A biblical church is a learning church. God has so much to tell his people!
Fellowship - Fellowship was vital to the early church’s survival, just as it is today. God didn’t design the
Christian life to be a solitary venture. He wants us to encourage one another. God wants his people to enjoy
one another and build wholesome relationships with other Christians.
Worship - The breaking of bread is an early term for the Lord’s Supper. The early church met regularly to
worship together and to remember Christ’s death and resurrection.
Prayer - Prayer was the lifeline of the first church, as it is for us today. If a church is not a praying church, it
will not know what Christ wants it to do.
We here at Calvary Baptist Church believe that we are living out this same style of learning,
fellowship, worship and prayer. Our faith and hope is in our savior Jesus Christ who provided
salvation for each person who would receive Him, by willingly bearing his cross to set us free
from the bondage of sin. Death could not hold the precious lamb of God; for God raised up Jesus
from the Grave on the third day and then raised Him into glory to be seated at His right hand.
Rev. Peter C. Wilson has been shepherding the flock at Calvary Baptist Church since 1997.

Sparks Club
Sparks is designed for children in regular kindergarten through
second grade. Sparks includes a fun firefly character named
Sparky, a red vest with accompanying awards for “Sparkies” to
wear. Sparks consists of 4 parts: Game Time – Individuals and team
competition takes place through games exclusive to Awana and
playground favorites. Every kid gets involved every night and has a
chance to unleash his or her energy. Handbook Time - Kids work
one-on-one with a trained leader to complete assignments in the
curriculum materials. Awana emphasizes memorization and
understanding of key Bible verses that show how to know God and
walk with Him. A series of awards and trophies reward achievements
at every level as kids progress. Dinner Time – This is where the kids
get energized for game time, but it is also a time of fellowship where
kids can build new friendships. Green Meadow Time – This is also
known as council time, the Green Meadow series focuses on
scriptures found in the Sparks handbooks (Skipper, Climber, and
Hiker) and relates to daily life. Each adventure combines strong
Bible content with an adventure story. The stories come to life with
child-based characters allowing clubbers to explore Bible truths
through the experiences of children like themselves and relate them
personally. Multigrade content is reinforced with colorful visuals,
activities, exciting games, and meaningful songs. These four
segments provide start-to-finish adventure in every meeting. Each
segment has its own purpose, but all are FUN.
T & T (Truth and Training)
Truth & Training is designed for children in regular third
through sixth grade that emphasizes Bible memorization and
Bible-centered achievements. Truth & Training consists of 4
parts: Dinner Time – This is where kids get energized for game
time, but it is also a time of fellowship where kids can build new
friendships. Game Time – Individuals and team competition
takes
place through games exclusive to Awana and playground
favorites. Every kid gets involved every night and has a chance
to unleash his or her energy. Handbook Time – Kids work one-
on-one with a trained leader to complete assignments in the
curriculum material (Ultimate Adventure Series). Awana
emphasizes memorization and understanding of key Bible
verses
that show how to know God and walk with Him. A series of
awards and trophies reward achievements at every level as
kids progress. Council Time – All T & T clubbers gather
together for singing, testimonies, and a Bible message that
explores the Bible and brings it to life through fun activities.
These four segments provide start-to-finish adventure in every
meeting. Each segment has its own purpose, but all are FUN.
The Calvary Kids Pages began with just 9 activity sheets in 2005 and a desire to bring to birth a Christian based Web Site for children, preteens, teens, and Christian educator's. There are now thousands of printable activity pages and growing. We currently have over 5,000 visitors a day from around the world using the resouces on our site. We give all the glory to God and give Him all the praise!
