What Do the stars, stripes, and colors

in the American flag mean anyway?

See the flag fluttering in the breeze?

It is the flag of the United States.

Sometimes it is called, “Old Glory,”

Or the “Stars and Stripes.”

Red, white, and blue are its colors.

And each color means something.

Red means courage – we try to be brave.

White means purity – we try to be good.

Blue means justice – we try to play fair.

Why stars and stripes?

Stars are considered a symbol of the heavens and the

divine goal to which man has aspired from time

immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light

emanating from the sun.

The stars represent the 50 states.
