ZACCHAEUS HATED

Zacchaeus (A Jew) who was a wealthy
(Rich) chief tax collector, was a traitor
to his people working for their
enemies, the Romans. He also collected
more taxes from his people than he
should have.

TRYING TO SEE

When Jesus was going through the
town of Jericho, Zacchaeus made an
attempt to get a view of Him, and was
not able to do so, because of the
people, for he was a small man.

UP THE SYCAMORE

And Zacchaeus went quickly in front of
them and got up into a sycamore tree to
see him, for he was going that way.

BE QUICK AND COME DOWN

And when Jesus came to the place,
looking up, he said to him, Zacchaeus,
be quick and come down, for I am
coming to your house today.

WRONGS PUT RIGHT

What went on inside there? We might
guess at Jesus speaking of
Zacchaeus’ fine house and
possessions. How did he get them?
Did Zacchaeus suddenly feel guilty
and repent and be saved? YES!
Jesus says so and Zacchaeus proved
it by GIVING away half his money to
the poor and four times the amount
he had stolen from others (the Law
only said one fifth!).

A NEW MAN

And Jesus said to him, Today
salvation has come to this house, for
even he is a son of Abraham. For the
Son of man came to make search for
those who are wandering from the
way, and to be their Saviour.
